It Was Only a Matter of Time: A Hello Kitty Netbook is Upon Us
November 21st, 2008 by CJ Preece
If the brand manager for Hello Kitty gets bonuses, then he/she must perpetually feast on the finest fish eggs while bathing in fresh-cut *insert currency type here*. Like Beanie Babies, Faygo, and Oprah, the Hello Kitty brand has made its way into everything and the majority of the population has no idea why. From lunchboxes and pen lights, to appliances of both healthful and naughty designation, Hello Kitty is in nearly every product niche, and in most homes where a young lady has resided over the last decade.
They’ve done it again, this time with a Hello Kitty Netbook. And yes, I’m serious. But at nearly 900 dollars, is it worth it? Let’s check the specs.
Hmm, a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom CPU, 1 GB of RAM, a 10-inch screen, Gigabit LAN, B/G Wi-Fi, 1 USB port, and 120 GB of hard drive space, this sounds an awful lot like a few of our top-ranked netbooks; the MSI Wind in particular comes to mind, as it’s been licensed out before.
Pricing is definitely high for the specs, in some cases almost three times as much as similar netbooks. I suppose it’s the brand, after all. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as they say.
